Riverside Orchard Chalet

Riverside Orchard Chalet is located in Lowden, 14.8 kilometres from the Donnybrook townsite.
The property was previously used for commercial fruit growing (hence the name), supplying fruit from 4,500 apple trees to both the local and export markets.

Brad and Val have lived on the property since purchasing it as a bare block in 1992. They gradually planted an apple orchard consisting of Pink Lady, Sundowner, Fuji and GrannySmith apples.
Sadly, they have had to remove the trees for health reasons and now run about 20 Friesian steers to provide pasture control.

In the early years the property was used to grow cauliflowers for the export market (up to 40,000 at a planting) as well as rockmelons, apple cucumbers and butternut pumpkins for the local (Perth) market.

In 2011 Brad and Val's son Michael and his wife Amber also built their home on the property and you may see them or their two kids cruising around from time to time.
